Friday, March 22, 3PM: Thousands of healthcare workers and community advocates will hold coordinated marches across New York State to denounce Gov. Hochul’s healthcare austerity budget. While the State sits atop $45 billion in reserves, the Governor is under funding NY’s Medicaid program by 30%. Her budget proposal includes hundreds of millions of dollars in unspecified cuts to healthcare programs and also would slash the pay of thousands of dedicated homecare workers by $3 an hour.
Meanwhile, NY hospitals are falling like dominoes—SUNY Downstate, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center being some of the most recent examples of hospital closures. Healthcare services are also being curtailed at an alarming rate—for example, maternity wards have been closing at an average of two per year.
New Yorkers need a budget which protects and invests in healthcare, reduces healthcare disparities, and save lives! Join us to march for Healthcare Justice for All New Yorkers:
