Since Broadway shut down in March, its performers and stage managers have not been able to work on an Actors’ Equity Association union contract. Now, for the workers from one musical, paid work will resume.
‘Diana: A True Musical Story’ will record a performance of the show in front of no audience, abiding by strict safety measures approved by the union. That recording will then be available to watch on Netflix. With unemployment for the union at nearly 100%, contractual work for the cast and crew of one Broadway show is an important victory, and step forward for Equity during the pandemic.
