2023 Commerford Labor Education Awards

2023 Commerford Labor Education Awards

Tuesday, December 5, 6-7PM: Please join the New York Labor History Association for a virtual reception honoring labor journalist Richard Steier and activist scholar Rebecca Givan for their extraordinary contributions bringing workers’ history to life and illuminating its relevance to today.

Each year since 1987 NYLHA has awarded the John Commerford Labor Education Award to two honorees for their contributions to workers’ empowerment. The organization’s only fundraiser of the year, the event supports NYLHA’s free programming about labor and workers.

The New York Labor History Association was founded in 1976 by trade unionists, academics, students, archivists, educators, labor editors, attorneys, and retirees, mostly from New York State. NYLHA encourages the study of workers and their organizations and serves as a bridge between past and present labor unionists and academics. Attendance is free, though donations to NYLHA are appreciated. Register here!
