This week marked an important step forward in securing good family-sustaining, community-supporting union jobs in the offshore wind industry. North America’s Building Trades Unions announced a national memorandum of understanding with developer Ørsted regarding construction of offshore wind farms. This new agreement will help ensure that offshore wind in the U.S. — including the unprecedented commitment in New York to procure 9,000 megawatts of offshore wind power with project labor agreements and prevailing wage requirements, secured last year by Climate Jobs NY and its allies — creates tens of thousands of good union jobs and careers.
