Building and Construction Trades Council Calls for Industry City Rezoning
“Representing more than 100,000 union construction workers, I recognize the concerns often associated with new development. But, if we want to move forward as a city, then we can’t hold the myopic view that every developer is a plunderer of wealth and a destroyer of neighborhood character,” writes Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York President Gary LaBarbera in a Crain’s Op-Ed this week.

“The fact of the matter is that the best anti-poverty plan is a good job that leads to a family-sustaining career. And the plan for Industry City will create good jobs, including union jobs that will put the skills and proficiency of our members to the test.”
